LIVE EVENT & WEDDING PAINTING

A unique way to commemorate a special day!  Entertain your guests by watching the creative process in real time and receive a sentimental keepsake to commemorate the event. Live event painting is still a relatively new trend, so add something fresh to your day to be talked about for years to come!

I come on-location to paint your event as it happens.  I capture the atmosphere, light, emotions, and energy of my surroundings on canvas. I love interacting with guests and enjoy chatting or explaining my creative process.

With your permission, your guests are also invited to add their own special mark on the canvas. This turns your painting into a creative guestbook and adds a fun, interactive experience to the event!

Every customized quote includes a total of 7-8 hours live event painting with oil paints on a gallery-wrapped canvas and additional time post-event in my studio to perfect the piece.  I also offer add-ons such as archival quality prints, thank you cards of your artwork, or an oil painting of the bridal bouquet.

HOW IT WORKS

During our Discovery Call, I’ll work with you to understand the creative vision for your live painting. Among other things, we will discuss the size and orientation of your canvas, the aesthetic you desire, the moment you’d like captured, and important people to be included in the painting.

On the day of your event, I will arrive 2-3 hours prior to set up my station and begin the foundations of your painting. I will take a few reference photos for the background, and depending on the event’s timeline, I will take a few more reference photos/videos of the couple/guest of honor. During the event, I will interact with your guests and encourage them to put their individual artistic mark on the painting (with your permission of course).

At the end of the night, the painting will be about 75% complete. I’ll reveal the painting to you before taking it back to my studio for completion, finishing touches, and more color-enriching layers of oil paint.

You’ll receive your finished painting, varnished and unframed (but with a wire), within 6-10 weeks of the event.  Your painting will be professionally packaged and shipped to you, or a local pick-up will be arranged.

IDEAS

I can work with your vision or you can give me full artistic freedom - it’s up to you! The biggest choice you’ll need to make is canvas size and orientation (horizontal or vertical) and overall aesthetic (preferred colors and composition). If you want a more detailed painting, or to include more people, a larger canvas is highly recommended. A smaller canvas size lends itself better to portrait style or couples-only paintings.

Ideas for your painting:

  • a candid party/reception moment, keynote speech, first kiss, vows, posed portrait, first dance, etc.

  • I can also combine various elements of your event into the painting - the venue exterior, cake, band, pets, loved ones who have passed away or not present, etc.

Below are some example images to help you gauge what size canvas might look best in your space.
There are many more sizes to choose from - it’s completely up to you!

  • I'm always on the look-out for unique and fun ideas, and when I learned about April, who paints live at weddings, I knew I had to have her at mine. When she arrived, she asked if I wanted her to paint something specific, but I gave her complete creative freedom to paint whatever inspired her, and I'm so happy I did. She captured a candid moment and turned it into a beautiful painting that I will always cherish. I used to think it was cheesy to have wedding photos on the wall, but a painting of a scene from your wedding is truly timeless.

  • My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting April at a styled shoot we modeled for recently and WOW. I was actually previously following April on social media and loved her work, but being able to see her artistry in person was amazing. She is truly a talent and if you have been thinking about having her at your event for you and/or your guests, this is your sign to do it! We fell in love with her work so quickly that we are now having her commission a custom piece for our family to display in our home. On top of everything, April is such a genuinely kind person, which made me want to hire her even more! Such a unique idea that you and your guests will remember and cherish forever!

  • April was the ultimate professional! Her calm, cool, and collected demeanor while painting our gorgeous models added a unique and captivating element to our styled shoot. Her artistry was nothing short of breathtaking, and everyone was completely blown away by the beautiful live paintings she created. I can't wait to work with April again in the future - 10/10 highly recommend!
